In 1971 @ Pixels & Paper Challenge Blog

With a boost of energy, & a day or two at home I was lucky enough to join in with Pixels & Paper this month.

A fabulous challenge..a lovely retro one...here is the inspiration

Cast your mind back - do you remember hand-made clothing using tissue patterns?  Was your Mum an embroiderer or knitter or did she enjoy another type of craft?  Have you followed in her footsteps and enjoy doing similar things?  Do you like having tea in dainty little cups?  Does a cup and saucer filled with hot fragrant tea remind you of someone from your past?  Or are you inspired by the bright, cheerful colours in this image or are drawn to the blue birds and flowers?  Whatever it is we would love to find out what inspires you.

So I found an old photo of Pete's sister Sue, & her new husband....& used the enamel bluebirds as my inspiration...(plus I love Sue's pink suit, definately made by her mum).

It was great to work on this digi page....I find it good for the soul...

Thank you for a lovely challenge Jane & the team.

Hugs xx

  1. My Mom was both. She did her pillowcase embroidering and her table clothes, tea towels. Everything.

She knitted mitts, socks for dad and the boys. Vests. My Mother in-law sat and watched the t.v in the 50's. and knit. Made my kids clothes like sweaters. socks. My daughter pretty dresses.

Never looked at the knitting as she did it. Her sons and daughters would hold the yard as she made the balls of yarn before hand. Great memories. Yes when I have company for supper. I use the teacups for the lady and the man nice mugs that I had given as presents. Like mugs from say N.B. For the men. I don't knit or do any thing my Mom did. Yet when she passed. I got her work. My Mom's one Granddaughter did and her other daughter who passed away was the same as Mom. I am art inclined like my oldest son. Of course his a true artist. My Mom when I was two years old My Mom always drank tea and her and I had tea time for real with cups and saucers with juice for me. And English Peak-frean cookies. Then I grew up loving tea.
I like blue and the blue birds and flowers. Bright colors. Thanks for memories.
