PageDrafts Christmas Cheer
My dear friend - the amazing Em Stafrace - invited me join in with some other lovely laydeez in ringing in Christmas with a delightful selection of fabulous sketches that only Em could design...for her design blog PageDrafts.
So with a difficult choice from her great sketches I choose this cool one - it really is great hey!!

I had just taken these candid shots of Harry outside BigW. They had their decorations out but hadn't set them up, so we had a play with the reindeer...I just love reindeers...
Of course I had to have fun with some texture paste & ink, then some lovely Basic Grey bits & bobs, along with some great Pink Paislee paper...Harry loved this goggle eyed reindeer too!
Do take a look at Em's PageDrafts for the best sketches around!!

Henry & Isabel
Over at Soul Scrappers Liz has a challenge to find a technique you have not used before, and work on a LO with it.
So I perused the net & found a technique that I tried & I love the results..it was using gesso on CS & then inking..
Here is my recipe -
Get CS ready & apply a line of gesso to a scrap piece of heavier CS or spalula. Place gesso'd spatula on top of your base CS & drag downwards. I added gesso to my spatula about 3 times & continued on down the page. Let dry completely. You can use a heat gun if you wish for this step.
Swipe a Distress Ink pad over your CS, concentraiting on areas without the gesso. Wet a cloth & wipe it over your page, quickly. Dry with a tissue or dry cloth & then leave again to completely dry.
Voila - an altered piece of CS.

I used a cream CS, & 2 Distress inks - Antique Linen (thank you Leanne) & Old Paper.
This is a photo of Pete's mum Garland parents & unfortunately we are unsure of the year...dont they look fabulous though!
Sadly Henry died young, but Isabel married again & they all lived happily together.

A little about Emma
Hack
Adelaide-based artist, Emma Hack, has
been exhibiting extensively throughout Australia since 1999. Through a
combination of painting on canvas, body painting and studio-based photography,
Emma's works evoke a rich array of visual narrative and magical
realism.Emma's recent collaboration on Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' has seen her profile skyrocket with the single in UK, Europe and US charts and over 100 million hits on YouTube.
And here was my page for this one..
I so enjoyed putting together this page!
This is my sister Judith's wedding photo from the early '60's...the bridesmade's frocks were the most beautiful gold, and their bouquets included wheat..my sister is always one for original thinking.
I gesso'd my white CS then layered a black and white paper servietter then when dry went a bit berserk with my machine stitiching...but you know I love doing that!
Why not join in with us at ARTastic this month...fabulous criteria!
