The October challenge at ARTastic is one dear to my heart...it involves a Jacaranda tree...& as I grew up in the Jacaranda city of Grafton, you know why.
Here is the fabulous inspiration -
This month we are being inspired by this delightful artwork
Under a jacaranda tree (1903) by R Godfrey Rivers.
So with the Jacaranda Festival at the end of October into the first week in November, when the blossoms are their best, I decided to use a photo taken at the very start of my street, under the approach to the Grafton Bridge...
We had a beautiful Jacaranda in our garden, that overlooked the Clarence River...but I have no photos of it - sad isn't it, so as I cycled past this one daily I thought that is so representative of my Grafton purple memories. You can see the smaller railway line viaduct in the back of the photo too.
I have used some Kaisercraft 'These Days' collectable embellies, with a few little sequins, that I am mad on at the moment, to give that vintage feel.
Thank you Jane & the DT's for fabulous inspiration.
Hugs xx

ReplyDeleteOh, my! LOOOVE that photo...see, this is why we do memory keeping, isn't it? And this was such a BIG memory for you - sad you don't have a photo...but then, we weren't able to take pics willy-nilly like we can these digi days!!! LOOOVE the sequin touches, too....I so 'get' that little 'fad':) Thanks for joining us at ARTastic:):)

ReplyDeleteI'm with you, the Jacaranda is beautiful. Unfortunately they don't grow where I am :-( but I always enjoy them when we drive to the city. Your photo is beautiful and you have done a great layout to compliment it. Love the paper trim at the bottom of the photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful layout, it really helps focus on the tree and the story you have to tell! Thanks for joining in our challenge at ARTastic this month!
