I have used a beautiful white card, along with some soft blue seam binding, with a sheet of acetate that I found in some packaging. 

The  gorgeous Scrapmatt's feathers here, I painted & sparkled.

Let's Go @ THe Memory Nest!

Playing at The Memory Nest again...using their Make It Monday 23 Sketch this time.

Always a great sketch & lovely ladies over there..

So I decided to use a new 6 x 6 paper pad from Crate Paper, 'On The Road' & had a ball making this card...

I swiped the background paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Bard Door' & then layered on top of that!

Wonderful Life @ The Memory Nest

Little story behind this page...(it is tucked in behind the LO on a long tag)

The Jacaranda Festival in Grafton is very well known in Australia. It has been running umpteen years...from the last week in October to the first week in November...when the blossoms are doing their thing.

I grew up in Grafton & have great memories of my life there..

So this year 1967, they had an event called 'Party for a Princess', to choose the very first Junior Jacaranda Princess. It was a fancy dress party.

I had lovely long hair, & about a week or so before this I had it all cut short...

Then we saw the ad for this in the newspaper, & mum borrowed an old fashioned blue velvet outfit from the local theatrical players, that included a bustle on the back.  So the day arrives to dress up, & gee my short hair didn't fit the scene! Mum's hairdresser lived up the road, so mum popped up & saw her & came back with this lovely long 'switch' that she had..

My dear mum, bobby pinned this to my hair & made a quick bow & covered the 'join'..& voila I was ready to go!

So inside to the even in the Grafton 'Barn' as it was called..at the showground...with cakes & lollies & fizzy drinks.

Then all those wanting to to be the running for the Princess formed a circle & we walked round to funny marching music.

The newsreader from the local TV station based at Coffs Harbour, 1 hrs south of Grafton was the Judge. I really was stunned that I was chosen...I still can remember that moment, all those years ago.

This photo was the one the local newspaper 'The Daily Examiner' took & gee I made the news!

So where do I live now? Coffs Harbour.

So where do I work now? The TV station..now isn't that such a co-incidence!!

And all this & more, came about from my dearest mum...oh she was so fabulous!

Challenge 1 @ Let's Scrap

Another challenge over at Let's Scrap...this time a recipe challenge.

Please make a card or layout with the following items included:
3 patterned papers 1 Sentiment (stamped or chipboard/sticker) 1 image (you do not have to hand color) 2 buttons some twine.

So here is my card I choose to make

I have used a 6 x 6 Kaisercraft pad 'Be-YOU-tiful for my 3 papers on a Twiddlebitz card base, with a Prima leaf & flower, KC pearls, on old brown button with the twine threaded in it, & an old gold button as well.

The sentiment & clock just adds to the vintagey look of the card.

The New Rig @ Let's Scrap

A change is as good as a holiday they say, & there has been a big one at Let's Scrap

They have moved from a Ning site to a blog..

And the first challenge over there is this double sketch - you can do the double or just one & that is what I choose, the left hand side. Code 9-3-14

And here is mine...using 2 old photos of Pete & Ben, with Pete's new windsurfing rig...

back in 1990. Pete loves the water & his hobby has moved on to body boarding...but we spend many a windy day at the beach...hehhe

I choose to use some fabulous paper scraps & alphas & a gorgeous VW with board on top...thought that added the touch!

I haven't joined in with the CASE Study Challenges for a while & I am so low on cards, it was a great time this afternoon off work.

The card challenge is so beautiful..I really love the wonderful workmanship from Debby Hughes

and here is my take on the case..

I used a new Kaisercraft paper pad Be-YOU-tiful , one lovely sheet there along with an older Websters Pages soft vellum. stitching, & little flowers...

Beach Party @ Use Your Stuff

It is their 150th Challenge - that's just great hey!

I really loved this ad inspired inspiration

So I used the colours here...the pinks & blues, yellowy greens - plus this is such a 

happy & cheerful photo. I remembered this photo taken at Tashi's 9th birthday - a full-on colour day in the sun & had fun checking out my papers & embellies to find what 'fitted'.

A Walk in the Park @ ScrapAfrica

Playing along with ScrapAfrica again with this great travel challenge..

Challenge: Tell us about your travel adventures...perhaps your favourite location, or the most memorable trip...anything related to travel. Please include journalling, even if hidden and tell us where it is.

So here is my page about a little walk in Green Park in London during out 2005/2006 holiday.

I have used fabulous woodgrain paper...I just cant stop myself from using it lately....I love it, that I misted with Heidi Swapp & Mister Hueys, then layered papers & frames around this great photo our daughter Jade took, of us strolling hand in hand.

I have added some hidden journaling under the Kraft layer...

it was such an adventure for us as we had not ever traveled overseas...passports, to long haul flights, to the sights & sounds of London then onto the rest of the UK.  

We are eternally grateful that our daughter worked in the UK cos that was 

the catalyst that made us move!

Right out of history @ Child's Play Challenges

A lovely scrapping friend, Astrid is on the team at  Child's Play Challenges

so I have joined in with my first challenge there & it is..

Classic TV Show: The Flintstones

 

I have used a photo of little old me with a small dinosaur at the Otway Fly, a lovely Sanctuary for birds (& dinosours too)... what a great place it was, walking high in the trees or along the paths in with the beautiful green plants...

Because I scrap with 8.5 x 11, I always have great paper left over so I have incorporated 2 diff brands as my base, then some PL & scrap paper pieces, stamping & inking, little D'Lish tags, hessian, tags (where I have journaled about our trip along the Great Ocean Road), Prima wood cloud, D'Lish little puffy extras, & some bits from my hole punch too.

 This was fun, so do join in, but you have to be quick!!

Totally & Seriously Absorbed @ Let's Get Inspired

Time to scrap today...oh joy of joys...

So I saw this great Mood Board challenge that really sang out to be on Let's Get Inspired

 

It always amazes me what pops into my mind when I see MB challenges (hehehe) ...and even though this one has a woman's outfit in it, I just felt this photo of my grandson Harry along with those divine autumnal colours would make a fabulous LO..

So here is my page... I was inspired by the colours, the woodgrain, the silver & the overall warmth of the Mood Board.

I have used this wonderful MME woodgrain pp, misted with Heidi Swapp & Mister Hueys & a fab Kaisercraft stencil..lots of scrap paper, & (heaven help me) some project life cards I was given by a dear friend Shelee.. Heidi Swapp words, stars & dots from Clare plus other bits & bobs..

My heart wanders...@ Let's Get Scrabby

I haven't played with the lovely gals at Let's Get Shabby for a while & it was time I did!

So this month their challenge is

A FAVOURITE 'BOOK' COVER

It could be from your childhood, from your children's childhood or perhaps it could be what you've read more recently..

so this is my most beautiful book which I treasure..

given to me by my wonderful daughter a few years back...

And using this as my inspiration I created these tags..

That's cos I love tags so much...

I have used vanilla coloured luggage tags from my local office supplies shop, a great stamp I bought from my lovely card making friend Helen Jolly, Heidi Swapp & Prima mask misting, with stamping, texture paste stamping & colour blending inks

Fabulous string off a toy that Harry (DGS) undid yesterday, Tattered Inspirations hand dyed ribbon, & lace from my dear mum's collection.

I really enjoyed making these & they will be used on the next birthday pressie to be wrapped, which will be tomorrow!

I used a fabulous Prima mask & lots of inks, & this lovely pink woodgrain paper with an old piece of Basic Grey in the cetre...stamping, stickers, plasterers tape circle, & a bit of gauze bandage!

Wow!!

Tremendous challenge...loved it!

Cheerful @ Use Your Stuff

I am joining in with Use Your Stuff with this great challenge..

This week's challenge is STICKERS! We all have tons of them around and sometimes they can be overlooked in favor of other embellishments and die cuts. Dig out your stickers and use them on this project! Letter/number stickers do not count for this project but word/phrase stickers are fine to use. 

I have used some old tape style stickers here, along with some Amy Tan stickers to create this really usable card...I enjoyed quietly sitting & creating I have to say!

Forever Adorable

This month the August Challenge at Show Us Your Stuff  is a shapes challenge,

So here is my page using a photo of dear little Angel (my son's kitty) that died last weekend from tick paralysis....so very sad...
