Words are Stars @ Let's Get Shabby

Over at Let's Get Shabby/Arty this month the challenge #65 is

Books

So what I have done is used a fabulous arty farty album (and lovely gold stars) that the lovely Karen Watson sent me, & begun an album of arty works for me.

My mum was a MAD crossword puzzler & she had this fabulous book called

And it is in rather a state of over use, but so loved that I decided to use the pages even more for my arty farty journaling

and here is mum's notes in the back...

I love the way she added her touches...

So I have ripped & torn pages, Mod Podged them into my journal, added delightful colour from Ken Olivers Color Bursts & water, plus some gold texture paste..

And my double arty page....titled 'Words are Stars'

Another fabulous challenge - thank you!

Guest Designer @ Pixels & Paper

I am very flattered to have been asked by Jane & the Design Team to be a GD at Pixels & Paper, & using the fabulous criteria, here is my write up - thank you

This month we welcome Debi Clark as our guest designer with her delightful layout based on her interpretation of our image this month  ...

I was inspired by this wonderful photo of the blues & the whites & the sea…the warmth, the heat, & the relaxation. I chose some holiday photos, & worked on a LO using these colours & feelings. With a sprayed & dyed background also setting the scene.

I am passionate about the art of scrapbooking and cardmaking, - I see it as my artistic & creative element to my life.  I have been so fortunate over the years, & scrapping photos of amazing times has been a joy.

I am fighting an illness that often zaps my energy away, but when I can,  I play with paper & embellishments & inks & gesso – all the lovely stuff! I am messy, & love the fun associated with playing around with this wonderful craft.

My blog is http://debisjoy.blogspot.com.au, if you want to have a little peek.

So why don't you join in with this fabulous challenge....it will warm you up! Pixels & Paper Challenge.

The Clarks {Mis) Adventures @ Soul Scrappers

Over at Soul Scrappers they have a Soul Scrappers Quest running every couple of months and this time it is
SSQ27 'On The Road Again'

I was lucky enough to join in & the jubilant Jen Fawkes mailed me some wonderful bits & bobs to use on my project.

I had a brainwave, & I decided to make this special album for Pete's 60th which will be in November. I know I have to find some old, old photos in the files so I will be undoubtedly adding some more pages/photos to this before the birthday comes around.
But I am happy with it so far & I know Pete will have a chuckle, & here it is!

Together @ ARTastic

A most lovely inspiration for July is on offer at ARTastic

CRITERIA is to use water (liquid) in some way on your page (ink spray, gelatos, paper crumple, watered down paint, make handmade flowers etc).  Just tell us how water was applied.

A little about Shirley Charlton ...

Shirley Roma Charlton was born in Malawi Central Africa and is now based in Brisbane, Australia. She is an international professional fine artist and her work has sold all over the world. With many art Exhibitions behind her and having judged many art shows, she loves teaching art. Her inspirational watercolours and soft pastels show a love for seascapes while her figure painting show vibrant rich colours with bold strokes.

Proceeds from her work goes back to Malawi to help a village called Manyowe outside Blantyre.  She also teaches art for the unemployed and homeless.

So this is my page using a wonderful photo of my fabulous SIL & my little grand daughter...

Now my background prep is using water colour paper along with a lovely big bursts of water from a spray bottle & Ken Olivers Color Burst puff on glorious powder...oh I am so in love with this stuff! It makes such fab patterns & colours...

I tried to emulate the colours of Shirley's painting..

and just had fun with this one

Thank you for the great inspiration...it was great!

Affirmations Cards @ Soul Scrappers

Mitzi the fabulous card maker at Soul Scrappers came up with the idea of making some cards with Affirmations...& I relished getting into them.

I recently purchased from Auzz Trinklets & Crafts some Ken Oliver's Colour Burst...little bottles of gorgeous powder that you puff (or paint) over wet water colour paper & this is a quickie coloured page that my friend Leanne & I worked on in just a few moments...

So I decided to make these into affirmations cards....along with some Zentangled Inspired Art, that also was inspired by a friend Margaret Crawford & giving me a fabulous book called Zentangle 9, Color with Mixed Media last week....

I even decided to use my own hand writing!!

So very satisfied I have made these....and I think I will make some more!

Thanks for looking...
