Last day of 2011

Isn't time an amazing thing!

Here we are at the end of 2010 & already the calendar is filling for 2011...I think it will be a very happy & scrappy year for me.

Here is a quick LO that I worked on in a couple of hours while our lovely visitors were out...just a lazy ride down the Kalang River...

And 4 baby cards I worked on too, using my new Peter Rabbit stamps...I have always loved Beatrix Potter & was so happy to find these & at a bargain price too! Must duck out to Spotlight today & grab some for Shelee too.

Best wishes to you all, & hope you find something beautiful in what you do.

We will open the book.  Its pages are blank.  We are going to put words on them ourselves.  The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.  ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce

The Mystical Nativity

What a wonderful inspiration for December at ARTastic!

It is a very intricate painting my Botticelli...& I really love it, now that I have spent a great deal of time looking at it...

So here is mine...titled Our English Christmas, & I have credited dear Melinda for her very clever little twig idea...

What a profound painting this was of Botticelli!! Full of colour & wings & love, & that is what I have used as my inspiration.

I have scrapped a photo of my man & lovely daughter at Christmas, a few years ago when we visited England.  Our daughter was working over there & having never travelled OS it gave us the 'push' to go. It was freezing cold, but yet so english & so lovely, we had a marvellous time!!

I have included all the criteria I believe & enjoyed doing so I might add! I have made a stable out of twigs off a tree in my garden, & that was inspiration from my scrapping friend Melinda Spinks. I have hand cut 2 little angels, & embossed some chippie pieces just to help set the scene.  I had fun sanding the Core-dinations cardstock, to give a mottled effect & ended up with a rustic, yet precise LO.

Thanks for stopping by.... love

Scrapping with Soul.....

What an amazing time I have had with scrapping over at Soul Scrappers....
I had my first ever challenge to upload on Saturday morning & my theme challenge was 'Monochromatic' & this is my LO for the challenge...it is titled 'Embraced with Love'. I thought long & hard as to a theme I liked, so I could start of with a 'bang' & hopefully a couple of the crew there will enjoy trying this one out. Very different setting a challenge, than just doing it...I want it to be fun & be able to have the gals interested enough to complete as well.

My next LO was for Shazza's challenge of scrapping someone 'famous' so here is mine.. you know who he is...sings so well with a whiskey & a cigarette at the Planto....phew!!!

Here is Marisa's challenge of repeating a B & W photo more than 3 times, plus painting a background...so had fun with this photo of me at Bernard's June Curry Night!  What a great night we had!

Here is our old mate Mick, with his inevitable guitar....being cool.  This was based on Justene's sketch & colour choices..

Here is my go at Gwen's technique challenge using an embossing folder, texture paint, ink & acrylic...worked out quite well I think...love this & will use it again.

Lastly for this week is Mary's challenge to be titled 'Believe' with a piccie of self & our beliefs..And that glorious Glitz paper!!!

Til next time....

Lovely weekend for scrapping.....

I am 1/2 finished with a few Christmas eating treats, but had to scrap for ScrapBoutique have their very royal & regal CC this weekend...here is a couple of LO's.

Em's challenge was to use your Prince or Princess in a LO...so this lovely photo taken when they were tiddleywinks just was perfect...such a pretty lot of embellishments.

Princess Kate's challenge was to use Kraft, Pink, Black & White plus an Elton John song....so my lovely Scuzzi was perfect for this one!  She is such a doll of a kitty!

Next I worked on a photo of Pete, his bro Steve & their ex-BIL at a wedding recently.  The photo was a bit dark, but had a jig around in PS & it is slightly better...Manon chose the 8.5 x 11 size which I have to say I really like now, & she had provided a great sketch too.

Til next time!

ScrapBoutique Retreat

What a great weekend I had with marvellous & talented scrapping women up at Darlington Park, a mere 30 minutes away from home! I took a mass of photos, that I somehow happened to delete (what!!) but here is a group photo of the lot of us...

Beautiful Chels organised the whole weekend wonderfully & what a job she did!  I met up with my local friends Tam & Leanne, & really enjoyed learning from Leanne..she is so neat & precise & a beautiful scrapping lady, & also meeting up with the loveliest Lisa & enigmatic Em....so very clever & creative...I am so lucky to know such grand women!

I worked on a few LO's but chatted lots too...

This is Em's challenge for the month...using a male photo with a moustache as an embellie, no flowers...so I used an old photo of Pete with his twin brother Steve for this & chuckled as I worked.

Hope to see you real soon,

Love Deb xx

My Pete's Birthday

We had such a fun time celebrating Pete's birthday with a party with our friends last night (yes, a school night) but turning 55 is so auspicious that it was so worth organising a do!

And his beach cake complete with little scrapped wind surfer that I knocked together...was a Boiled Chocolate Cake covered in very coloured buttercream....went down well...everyone had blue lips & tongues!!

Pete had a fantastic night! xx

White with 1 blogspot.....

Well decided I would have a go at this months challenge over at White with 1, which has just begun setting challenges again....I have to say that this blog site was the very first one that I ever saw, & I really like feeling confident enough to have a whirl now.

The challenge is to use white of course, with yellow this month....

I had fun with yellow paint over a doily mask, then using ribbon & lace & Marg's Bits & Pieces yo-yo flower - gorgeous isn't it, Tattered Inspirations pin, BG paper, alphas & chippies, journalling card & my faithful Zig writer.

Why not check out - http://whitewith1.blogspot.com/

Lucky me....

I was very fortunate to have a couple of little prizes awarded for a couple of my LO's lately.....

At Janet's gorgeous shop Scrapville, I managed a lovely prize of Sandies Handmade Daisies for a little LO of my Benni when he was 4 years old.  Janet loved his 'flanny'....so did he! Oh &  I just love these October Afternoon papers too!

And for October over at Scrap the Girls, I was fortunate to score a little prize for this LO of wonderful Tashi - just being herself.

Life runs by in a Blur....

My take on Scrap the Girls for this month....

I used 3 great, but blurry photos taken when Jade was just a little girl running around in my parents garden, under the magnificent frangipani tree.  Oh those were the days!! I used all the elements that were required on this months challenge & happy with my colourful result.

Had to use all of these shapes, & with a few changes here is mine...

Thanks for taking the time to look,

Love Deb xx

So Much Fun at Kraft it Up!!!

The criteria for KIU this month November is 'decorative edges'....so I really enjoyed playing around with a gorgeous photo of Tash & Monica, having so much fun being 16 year olds!!

I sewed & used lace & inked, & scratched & glittered, & cut - that I really did enjoy it so much too!

Thanks for having a little look see,

2. Two colours in the title = 2 pts

This is my LO for this month..... titled 'Through the eye of a Lens'.......

A photographer friend took this photo a little while ago, while we were looking at a photographic exhibition at our local Art Gallery.....they have used this very one on their awards, for their latest competition...so we are famous!!! Hehehe

I loved using the browns, the glorious autumnal tones, masking...& I have cut out a piccie of Pete & I, & adhered it over the large photo...but I can see that is hard to tell!!  And that is a strange thing with that...I am with my Pete, & when cutting out our silhouette I trimmed to close to his hair line, & now looks like I am with my son Ben!!! Wow they look alike!!

Used a delightful selection of lace & flowers & even the string that binds the parcel, from the one & only lovely Carol from Tattered Inspirations... aren't they gorgeous floral wonders!!

Been a-scrapping...

Well last week I had the whole week off work...& that was just brilliant!!

Pete & I went in the camper trailer to a local beach for 3 days & it was great really...aside from the heavy downpurs of rain now & again.  We got a touch of the sun, when it was shining, so beach walking, surfing for Pete & paddling for me...very relaxing.  We came back to a visit from our daughter, which was just so delightful & now pottering about getting ready for the usual working week.

Got time to scrap over this weekend too, & been working on ScrapBoutique's October CC - A Dreamy Nightmare....

Manon's Inspiration Challenge ............there was a choice of a dreamy photo or a scary one...naturally I didn't choose the scary one!!!

Amanda's great sketch Challenge using the A4 size & a great sketch.....

The lovely guest DT Leanne's Spooky challenge - we downloaded the haunted house & had to incorporate it into our page....I used some Brissie lightning photos & stitching on my page.

Em has a Sunday Roast to come tonight...so looking forward to that for sure!!

Take care...
