Happy Together @ Use Your Stuff

When we married in 1976 our reception was in the local services club. & these dreadful coloured curtains were behind us...but after 38 years of waiting (perhaps I was, really :))
Kaisercraft bought out this fantastic Mix & Match paper collection....that matches those jolly curtains! And it also has lots of lovely doilies on the page....

So here is my page for Use Your Stuff Challenge 159...using doilies...

I just opened a new set of lovely King sized soft cotton white sheets for our bed, & this 'casual elegance' ribbon was on them...so not wanting to waste it, I added it to my page.

Thanks for a great challenge,

Ladeeze Brunch @ Child's Play Challenges

Joining in with the fun at Child's Play Challenges, & this fortnight it is Alice in Wonderland..

I was instantly drawn to the image & the idea of a happy gathering, so I choose to use these photos from Jade's Baby Brunch, back in 2012.   Jade's friends are the 'ladeeze' (ladies) so thought that little bit of fun worked well too as the title.

So here is my page..

I choose to use yellows like the teapot & Alice's hair, along with a little bit of green & white...as well as the 'rabbit hole' idea of the Cafe's front door.
I had fun with this lovely chevron pp that Jade is using to make envelopes for her wedding invites, plus these lovely photos that were taken on the day.

What a lovely challenge this was...thank you!

Cherish @ ARTastic

The October challenge at ARTastic is one dear to my heart...it involves a Jacaranda tree...& as I grew up in the Jacaranda city of Grafton, you know why.

Here is the fabulous inspiration -

This month we are being inspired by this delightful artwork
Under a jacaranda tree (1903) by R Godfrey Rivers.

So with the Jacaranda Festival at the end of October into the first week in November, when the blossoms are their best, I decided to use a photo taken at the very start of my street, under the approach to the Grafton Bridge...

We had a beautiful Jacaranda in our garden, that overlooked the Clarence River...but I have no photos of it - sad isn't it, so as I cycled past this one daily I thought that is so representative of my Grafton purple memories. You can see the smaller railway line viaduct in the back of the photo too.

I have used some Kaisercraft 'These Days' collectable embellies, with a few little sequins, that I am mad on at the moment, to give that vintage feel.

Thank you Jane & the DT's for fabulous inspiration.

Wonderful Life @ The Memory Nest

Isn't this a fabulous sketch...

This is the September Sketch across at The Memory Nest.
Katie Lamb has done a wonderful job on this one!

And here is my page from this sketch...but also I scraplifted a dear friend's page that has been published in Scrapbooking Memories magazine this month using this sketch.

Yay to the lovely Liz Hocking!

Little story behind this page...(it is tucked in behind the LO on a long tag)

The Jacaranda Festival in Grafton is very well known in Australia. It has been running umpteen years...from the last week in October to the first week in November...when the blossoms are doing their thing.

I grew up in Grafton & have great memories of my life there..

So this year 1967, they had an event called 'Party for a Princess', to choose the very first Junior Jacaranda Princess. It was a fancy dress party.

I had lovely long hair, & about a week or so before this I had it all cut short...

Then we saw the ad for this in the newspaper, & mum borrowed an old fashioned blue velvet outfit from the local theatrical players, that included a bustle on the back.  So the day arrives to dress up, & gee my short hair didn't fit the scene! Mum's hairdresser lived up the road, so mum popped up & saw her & came back with this lovely long 'switch' that she had..
My dear mum, bobby pinned this to my hair & made a quick bow & covered the 'join'..& voila I was ready to go!

So inside to the even in the Grafton 'Barn' as it was called..at the showground...with cakes & lollies & fizzy drinks.
Then all those wanting to to be the running for the Princess formed a circle & we walked round to funny marching music.
The newsreader from the local TV station based at Coffs Harbour, 1 hrs south of Grafton was the Judge. I really was stunned that I was chosen...I still can remember that moment, all those years ago.

This photo was the one the local newspaper 'The Daily Examiner' took & gee I made the news!

So where do I live now? Coffs Harbour.
So where do I work now? The TV station..now isn't that such a co-incidence!!

And all this & more, came about from my dearest mum...oh she was so fabulous!
